Fifteen years ago, when the morning mist rolled over the hills of the Hunter Valley in New South Wales, the Miller family took a leap into the unknown.
At the time, the American Bully was a rare, almost legendary breed in Australia. Most locals only knew traditional Staffies or Pit Bulls, but Sarah and Mark Miller—along with their ten-year-old daughter, Chloe—had spent months researching the breed’s trademark blocky heads, muscular builds, and notoriously gentle temperaments.
When they brought home Koa, a blue-fawn pocket bully puppy with eyes full of curiosity, their journey officially began.

The Early Days: Pioneer Breeders in the Outback.
Starting out in 2011 wasn’t easy. Importing genetics into Australia required navigating strict quarantine protocols, endless stacks of paperwork, and an incredible amount of patience. But the Millers were determined to do things right, prioritizing health testing, temperament, and functional structure above all else.

People used to stop us on our street in Newcastle just to ask what kind of bear we were walking,” Sarah would laugh. “Then Koa would immediately roll over for belly rubs, and they’d fall in love.” As Koa grew into a stocky, affectionate ambassador for the breed, the family established their kennel, American Bully Home. By 2021, after ten years of refining their program in Australia, a new dream began to take shape. The American Bully scene in the United States was booming, offering access to groundbreaking bloodlines, world-class registry shows, and an expansive network of passionate breeders.
The decision was bittersweet. Packing up a life built over decades meant saying goodbye to the coastal Australian lifestyle, but the opportunity to expand their life’s work at the breed’s birthplace was too big to pass up.
Moving a household across the world is stressful; moving a family alongside a foundational pack of heavy-set, short-muzzled dogs requires military-level precision. After months of health clearances, custom crate fittings, and direct-charter flights, the Millers and their dogs landed on American soil, settling onto a picturesque five-acre property in the States.
